The client had bought a property with an existing Legrand MyHome automated system already in place — including extensive lighting throughout the gardens and courtyard. None of it worked. The brief: find out why, and get it working again.
It's a different story to a new-build automation project: diagnosing someone else's system, on a platform not usually installed on other jobs, and putting it right rather than ripping it out and starting again. Same underlying commitment either way — the job done properly, whatever's already there.
Investigation found the real issue: most of the outdoor fittings and SWA cable termination boxes had suffered water ingress and were beyond saving, and the original wiring had been poorly installed in the first place — not a question of what was spent, just how it was done.
Every multi-core SWA cable was traced back through the garden. All the old, failed connection boxes were removed, the cable ends cleaned back and properly re-terminated, with new transformers and fittings fitted where needed — working within the client's existing Legrand MyHome system rather than replacing it wholesale.
With the garden and courtyard lighting working again, the client asked for something the property had never had: lighting along the driveway. New bollard lights were added and extended from the existing Legrand system, rather than run as a separate, disconnected addition.
The old and new SWA termination boxes, side by side — the clearest illustration of what "fault-found and restored" actually looks like.
Every fitting working, properly terminated against the weather this time, and new driveway lighting added into the same system — the whole property lit properly, front and back.
